Judicial Screening

The FBA Judicial Screening Committee is charged with evaluating candidates seeking appointment to the Fairfax Circuit, General District, and Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Courts.  The nine committee members, recommended by the FBA Nominating Committee and elected by the FBA Board of Directors, serve three-year staggered terms, so each year three new members are appointed.


The FBA Judicial Screening Committee invites all judicial candidates to appear before our committee. Based upon a written application and interview candidates are eligible to receive one of the following ratings.


  • Highly Recommended
  • Recommended
  • Qualified
  • Not Found Qualified

Online Judicial Screening Membership Vote for Fairfax Judicial Vacancies

The online membership vote for candidates for two anticipated judicial vacancies in the Fairfax Circuit Court will take place November 16 through November 30 at 4:00 PM, and the online membership vote for candidates for two anticipated judicial vacancies in the Fairfax General District Court will take place November 17 through December 1 at 4:00 PM

If you did not receive emails with instructions for online voting, which included your unique Username and Password for the Fairfax Circuit and General District Court online membership votes, please check your spam filters.  The email sender was Jana Sehrer at To ensure that you receive emails regarding elections, upcoming events, and court news, using the steps below please add the domain as a safe sender in your email settings. 


  1. Click Junk in the Navigation Pane, and then click Junk E-mail Options.

Eligible members may vote from any location providing Internet access. A computer will be made available at the FBA office, should any member need to vote at that location.
