Judicial Screenings - General
 

In general, the FBA will post a notice when a judicial vacancy occurs.  Candidates seeking an interview with the FBA Judicial Screening Panel must read and comply with the Rules of the FBA Judicial Screening Committee/Alternates (rules updated January 2010).  After a careful review of the rules, each candidate must submit an application (updated January 2010) for the screening.

Fairfax General District Judicial Screening - January 2009

The online membership vote for candidates for the General District Court anticipated judicial vacancy(ies) will begin on January 19, 2010 and end on January 21, 2010. 


    EXPLANATION OF VOTING CATEGORIES:
    The following are general definitions of the judicial ballot voting categories. A vote must be entered for each applicant. If you do not have sufficient knowledge about an applicant, your vote should be "No Opinion.”

     
    • ENDORSED: By voting "ENDORSED" you are affirmatively asserting your belief that the particular applicant’s name should be submitted to the legislature for consideration as a judicial applicant by the FBA.
    • NOT ENDORSED: By voting "NOT ENDORSED" you are asserting your belief that the particular applicant’s name should not be submitted to the legislature for consideration as a judicial applicant by the Fairfax Bar Association.
    • NO OPINION: A "NO OPINION" vote means you do not feel you have sufficient knowledge of the applicant to vote "ENDORSED" or "NOT ENDORSED".

    Biographies

    William P. Daly, Jr.
    Committee Recommendation - Recommended

    William P. Daly, Jr. is a principal at the law firm of Rees Broome, PC with 23 years experience focusing on civil litigation. Bill received his B.A. degree from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland in 1982, and his J.D. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, in 1986. Bill is an editor of the Fairfax Circuit Court Manual, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Fairfax Bar Association, as well as the Board of Directors of the Vienna/Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce. Bill lives in Vienna with his wife, Lynn, and their four children..


    Richard E. Gardiner
    Committee Recommendation - Recommended

    I have been lead counsel in over 85 trials in federal and state court and have argued appeals in the Virginia Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, and in many federal courts of appeals. My practice includes criminal defense, civil litigation, and administrative proceedings. I am a director of the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and have served on the Legislative and General District Court Committees of the Fairfax Bar Association. I am on the CJA Panel for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

     

     

    Michael J. Lindner 
    Committee Recommendation - Recommended

    Michael J. Lindner is a solo practitioner concentrating on criminal defense and appeals in Virginia courts. Mr. Lindner graduated from Kenyon College in 1981 and earned his J.D. from American University’s Washington College of Law in 2000. Before attending law school he was part owner and director of development at a software company in Fairfax County, managing the production of adventure games for personal computers. He is married with two children, ages 15 and 11. He has lived in Northern Virginia for 25 years.



     

    Cynthia Kaplan Revesman
    Committee Recommendation - Qualified

    Cynthia Kaplan Revesman is the managing member of the Law Offices of Cynthia Kaplan Revesman, PLC and a partner with Rubenstein, Cogan & Revesman, P.C., both law firms with heavy collections and commercial practices. She has been practicing law for 18 years and is licensed to practice law in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. She received her undergraduate degree from Emory University and her J.D. from Catholic University School of Law. She has been a local and state board member of the VWAA and her homeowner’s association. She resides in Oak Hill with her husband, Mark and son, Paul.

     

     

    Tina L. Snee
    Committee Recommendation - Recommended

    Tina Snee has had an active trial practice in Virginia since 1988, as well as the District of Columbia and Maryland. After working for a civil litigation law firm for seventeen years as an associate and partner, she began her own firm in April, 2004 in Fairfax, Virginia. She appears regularly in General District and Circuit Court. She is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and chosen as one of Washington, DC Area’s Best Lawyers; Virginia Best Lawyers; Virginia Super Lawyers; and Virginia Legal Elite.

    Ms. Snee has been active in Bar and community activities, including leadership positions.
     

     

    Gretchen Lynch Taylor
    Committee Recommendation - Qualified

    Gretchen Lynch Taylor is a trial lawyer concentrating in criminal and traffic defense. She is a graduate of Virginia Tech (B.A. 1992) and William & Mary (J.D. 1995), where she also taught Legal Skills as an Adjunct Professor. She has served as an Assistant Public Defender in Roanoke (1995-1997); as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Newport News (1998-2002); and as an Assistant Federal Public Defender in Norfolk (2002-2008). She moved back home to Fairfax County and opened the Law Office of Gretchen L. Taylor in Fairfax in August, 2008. She lives in Herndon with her husband and their two children.
