Fairfax Bar Association

Paralegal Section
The Paralegal Section was established in 2001 to represent paralegals and legal assistants working as paralegals, who are an integral part of the legal practice.

The goals and objectives of the Section are to:

  • expand membership;
  • provide opportunities for paralegals to grow and develop professional skills; thereby becoming an integral partner with both the legal community and community at large;
  • promote the professional role of the paralegal through the implementation of ethical standards and responsibilities;
  • participate and assist in activities providing pro bono services to the community;
  • be contributing members of the Fairfax Bar Association;
  • mentor those entering the paralegal profession; to support established paralegals through educational programs that enhance the profession; and
  • encourage and support those members who seek credentialing for the Paralegal Advanced Competency Exam (PACE), the Certified Paralegal Exam (CP), as well as the pursuit of post secondary and post graduate degrees within the profession.

Section Membership is $25.00 for FBA members. For more information on how to join the Paralegal Section, send an e-mail to fba@fairfaxbar.org.

The FBA Paralegal Section and the Fairfax Law Foundation wish to express our gratitude to members of the Fairfax Bar, Paralegal Section, and Fairfax community members who contributed to our 2014 Annual Valentine Project, adopted by the Foundation in 2009.  Special thanks are due to Courtnie Norris, who donates her time and funds to help make this project a huge success each year.  Also thanks are due to Sensei Enterprises for donating water bottles and a gift-card and to Inabnet Reporting for donating pens, highlighters, and lip balms for the bags.  Monetary and new book donations were collected to fill 34 gift bags, 12 for the residents of Foundations (formerly the Fairfax Girls’ Probation House) and 22 for residents of the following Boys’ Residential Facilities:  The Boys’ Probation House, Transitional Living Program, and Beta Program.

Colorful and sturdy shopping bags were once again donated by Trader Joe’s in Fairfax, courtesy of Manager Kim Emit.  Each young adult received between two and four new fiction, non-fiction and/or classic books, toiletries and personal items, a journal and Valentine candy.  Moreover, the facilities’ directors and teachers received additional items for use as gifts and/or incentives for the residents during their tenure.

It was a great pleasure to deliver the bags to the young women and men on behalf of the Fairfax Bar Paralegal Section and the Fairfax Law Foundation.  The young adults were excited and very grateful for their books and other gifts.  Copies of the girls' thank you letters can be found here; the boys' letters can be found here.

Thank you for your continued generous support of this worthwhile project.  As one of the young people so poignantly said about receiving the books, “It made me look forward to going in to my cell. Me and my peers had discussions on the books and were really hyped about receiving them.

We wish to thank everyone for their support of our annual Back to School Supplies Drive, a collaborative effort adopted by the Fairfax Law Foundation, which benefits school-aged students assisted through New Hope Housing, Inc., Fairfax County’s largest family based homeless program. Your donations helped us to provide backpacks and school supplies for 47 children housed through New Hope’s Next Steps, Rise, Stride, Stepping Out I and Stepping Out II programs. We sincerely appreciate our members’ continued selfless support of this meaningful outreach. Copies of the children's thank you notes can be found here.

The members of the FBA's Paralegal Section have received many accolades.  Go here to learn more.
