From the Facilities Security Department of the Sheriff's Office

As part of her presentation at a recent Circuit Court Committee meeting, Lt. Susanne Dorsey of the Facilities Security Departments of the Sheriff's Office provided a list of all contraband items that are prohibited from the courthouse.  As most of us have attorney ID badges, it's especially important to review this list, as we may easily have these types of items in our bags that we forget about and then our bags don't normally go through the magnetometers.  Please be aware, remove these items from your bags if you have them, and keep the courthouse safe!

Items prohibited from the courthouse include:

Aerosol sprays

Ammunition (Live)

Batteries (9V)

Belts with bullets or spikes

Bottle openers with pointed end

Box cutters

Brass knuckles

Cork screws

Handcuffs (citizen)

Handcuff keys

Illegal drugs

Knitting needles

Laser pointers

Letter opener

Nail clippers (large with file)

Nails, screws, wires & chains

Sharp edged items (anything with a razor blade)

Spiked jewelry

Tools (sharp - could be used for stabbing or cutting)

Mace or pepper spray
