This FREE day-long comprehensive training will cover every aspect of preparing and presenting a contested custody case in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.  This course is appropriate for lawyers with varying levels of experience and expertise, from those new to this area to experienced family lawyers.

Our distinguished faculty includes respected practitioners, as well as Judge Carr.  There will be extensive written materials, including sample forms.  Both procedural and substantive law, as well as litigation strategies and tips, will be covered.

In exchange for the training, participants will agree to represent two low-income or poverty clients.  Your representation will make a crucial difference in the lives of these families and children, who would otherwise be unable to afford legal counsel.  The futures of those with few resources will be determined through this process and they need your help.

Mentors will be available.  No family law experience necessary to participate.

For any questions, contact Arlene Beckerman, Director of Pro Bono Activities, at (703) 246-3779 or

We look forward to hearing from you!
