Description: Speakers will review recent changes in the Professional Guidelines related to cybersecurity, email usage, and social media; emphasize the need to take precautions to protect firm and client information and to use care in communicating with clients or prospective clients; and provide recent, real-life examples of situations in which attorneys failed to act ethically in their use of computers and smart phones. The speakers will address specific platforms for communicating with clients and the public, such as email, Twitter, Facebook, Avvo, to name a few, and will address blogging, including whether it violates ethical rules on advertising and/or on improperly holding oneself out as an expert.  Finally, one of the areas that results in the largest number of bar complaints is when an attorney fails to communicate with his or her client, so the speakers will look at the requirement for attorneys to stay in touch with their clients in the context of the various ways clients receive information from their attorney balanced against the care with which attorneys reach out to and respond to clients.   Speakers: Kim K. Huguley, Esq., The Susan Hicks Group, PC Amanda M. Kimble, Esq., Malinowski Hubbard, PLLC
