Policy Change for Professional Visits to the Adult Detention Center

Effective Friday, March 27, 2020, all professional visits will be conducted in the personal visiting areas of the Adult Detention Center.  This change is in response to the ongoing COVID-19 national emergency.  All professional visitors will be checked for appropriate identification (law enforcement credentials, Fairfax County or Virginia state ID, Virginia bar card and driver's license, etc.).  All professional visitors will be asked screening questions prior to being allowed entry to the facility.  If any answers to these questions pose an issue, the post deputy will immediately notify a supervisor who will address the matter further.

For male inmate visits, Post 18A (public side) and Post 19 (secure side) will be staffed during normal business hours, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) during Shift I. All professional visitors shall be encouraged to visit with their client during normal business hours or via the attorney telephone line.  During Shift II, the Squad Commander shall designate a vacant GH holding block to function as the professional visiting area.  CB-2 will facilitate these visits accordingly.

Female inmate visits will be conducted at Post 4 in the personal visiting area.  The professional visitors will be directed to check-in at Post 18A (Shift I) and CB-1 (Shift II).  All appropriate notifications of this policy change have been made to as many professional visiting entities as possible.

All professional visits will be conducted with the glass partition between the parties.  Deputies will be available to facilitate transferring documents as needed.  Any further questions please contact Casey Lingan or Major Shabazz.
