FBA Now Accepting Scholarship Applications

The Fairfax Bar Association (FBA) has established two $500 scholarships to benefit its members. The scholarships are available to students who demonstrate diligence in and a commitment to their studies and academic excellence, and an interest in the pursuit of law related studies.

 

Applicants must either be a current member in good standing of the FBA, or related to a current member in good standing of the FBA. Neither Members of the FBA Board of Directors, nor anyone related to a member of the FBA Board of Directors, are eligible to apply.

 

Applicants must have been a student with a grade point average of at least 3.0 during high school (and college or law school, if applicable).

 

The scholarships are available to prospective students who have been accepted, or expect to be accepted, for the 2018 fall semester into post-secondary education or training, and be pursuing education in law related study.

 

An original application must be postmarked or otherwise submitted no later than July 31, 2018, and must be accompanied by the following:

 

  • Two letters of recommendation from non-family members, dated during the current school year, one of which must be from a teacher or instructor. If recommendations are sent separately, they must be postmarked or otherwise submitted no later than July 31, 2018.
  • A personal statement of 250 words or less by the Applicant on why she or he has chosen to pursue an education in the law or law related studies. This personal statement will be extremely important in the selection process. The selection committee reserves the right to interview Applicants by teleconference or in person.
  • A copy of the Applicant's most recent grade transcript (3.0 GPA minimum required).
