Newly Admitted Attorney Orientation Whether you're a newly admitted attorney or are simply new to the Northern Virginia area, you are invited and encouraged to attend the Fairfax Bar Association (FBA) Newly Admitted Attorneys Orientation on Thursday, November 13th, 2025 from 1:00 - 5:00 PM in the Fairfax County Courthouse (4110 Chain Bridge Rd). This program has been approved for 2.5 MCLE credits with the Virginia State Bar. The Newly Admitted Attorney Orientation will provide an opportunity to meet with Fairfax County Judges, Clerks of Court, and various local practicing attorneys - all of whom will help young lawyers navigate the local practice of law and familiarize them with local rules and procedures. The program will include a session titled "Navigating the Circuit Court Clerk's Office" which will include valuable information specifically on initial filings/fees, daily orders, Calendar Control, the Friday Motions Docket, and the Differentiated Case Tracking Program. Additional program topics include the administrative process of the Fairfax County Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts and the role of an attorney as advocate and as an officer of the Court. The program also includes a tour of the Fairfax County Courthouse which will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings from the perspective of the staff. Immediately following the program attendees are invited to a happy hour. Bring your business cards to the happy hour to enter for a chance to win raffle prizes. If you know of recently admitted attorneys practicing in Fairfax County or attorneys who recently relocated to Fairfax County, please share the details of this invaluable program with them.
