The FBA Judicial Screening Committee is charged with evaluating candidates seeking appointment to the Fairfax Circuit, General District, and Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Courts. The nine committee members, recommended by the FBA Nominating Committee and elected by the FBA Board of Directors, serve three-year staggered terms, so each year three new members are appointed.
The FBA Judicial Screening Committee invites all judicial candidates to appear before our committee. Based upon a written application and interview candidates are eligible to receive one of the following ratings.

- Recommended
- Qualified
- Not Found Qualified

Judicial Screening Online ElectionThe online membership vote for candidates for one anticipated vacancy on the Fairfax County Circuit Court bench began on November 17, 2025, and concluded on November 24, 2025 at 4:00 PM. Pursuant to the Rules of the Fairfax Bar Association Judicial Screening Committee (updated 2024), "After the close of all voting, the tabulation of the ballots, and the report of the tabulation by the FBA President to each applicant, the results of the membership vote shall be posted (including the vote count) on the FBA’s website."
