The Fairfax Bar Association Nominating Committee is soliciting applications for vacancies on the Judicial Screening Committee.

If you wish to apply for one of these positions online, please either complete the form below or scroll down to "Document Upload" and attach a completed application. The application deadline is Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Please note that prior applications will not be considered.

You should not apply unless you are certain that you will be able to attend all of the meetings of the Screening Committee and are willing to certify below that you understand the time commitment and acknowledgements involved. Barring an emergency, the time commitment for a screening panel can be a full day and possibly into the evening. Generally, the Screening Committee will have one mandatory organizational meeting and then meet, as needed, to interview candidates for any Fairfax judicial vacancies. Judicial Screening Committee members and alternates must agree not to serve on the FBA Screening Panel and any specialty bar screening panels simultaneously, must agree to sign a confidentiality agreement, and must also certify that they will not pursue a vacancy on any Fairfax bench within one year of serving on the FBA Screening Panel. The Nominating Committee seeks a diverse pool of candidates to serve on the Screening Committee in an effort to have balanced perspectives on potential judicial candidates.
