Louis Lawrence de Nicola

Louis Lawrence de Nicola was born on November 10, 1924 in New York City. After Louis graduated from Xavier High School in New York City he joined the United States Navy Submarine Service. Following his service in the Navy, Louis earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and subsequently his J.D. and LL.M. both from Georgetown University's Law School. He was admitted to the Bar in 1954 and was a practicing Attorney in Alexandria, VA until he retired in 2002.

Beloved husband of the late A. Jeanne (Roepke) de Nicola, Louis is survived by his three sons, Charles Lynch de Nicola and wife Susan of Elwood, IN, Lawrence Fitzpatrick de Nicola of Manassas, VA and John Barry de Nicola and wife, Dana of Ashburn, VA; three grandchildren, Jean Marie de Nicola of Macclenny, FL, Evan James de Nicola of Ashburn, VA and Kyle Matthew de Nicola of Ashburn, VA, and many devoted friends.


J. Ronald Lynch, Esq.

Longtime Fairfax attorney J. Ronald Lynch passed away on December 17, 2014, as a result of bone cancer. He is survived by his wife, Maryann Lynch, and his children Elizabeth K. Lynch, a member of the Alexandria Bar Association, Daniel P. Lynch, and Andrew K. Lynch. 


The Honorable R. Terrence Ney

The FBA is saddened to learn of the loss of Judge R. Terrence Ney who passed away on November 24, 2014. He was 70. Judge Ney was a graduate of Harvard College and received his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He ran a law firm in Fairfax that eventually became a part of McGuireWoods LLP. He was later elected to the Circuit Court of Fairfax County where he served for nearly 16 years. Visit this page to leave a tribute comment.


Archie Joseph "A.J." Albanese, Esq.

A. J. Albanese died on August 30, 2014 at the age of 97.  He was a longtime McLean resident and Fairfax City Attorney, and was a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army (Ret.). Beloved husband of the late Jeanne T. Albanese and Sally Albanese. He is survived by his 5 children, Michael G. Albanese, David A. (Rebecca) Albanese, Ronald J. Albanese, Mark S. Albanese and Jeanne "Gigi" (Jerry) Garafalo, two step-children, Andrew (Elizabeth) Oman and Anne Oman, as well as 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.


Courtland  L. Traver, Jr., Esq. 

Courtland L. Traver, Jr. passed away on March 30, 2014. He was born on September 20, 1935 and is survived by his wife, sister, son, two daughters, two step-daughters, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.


Upon graduating the University of Connecticut, he entered the Naval Aviation School in Florida and later studied law at Georgetown University. He was a partner at McGuire Woods until his retirement in 2000.

Anthony E. Grimaldi, Esq. 

Anthony Grimaldi passed away on January 14, 2014 surrounded by family. Mr. Grimaldi was a 1952 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and later Georgetown Law School in 1957. He began his legal career at DC Transit Company and then joined the firm of O'Brien and Clague in Washington, DC. After moving to Virginia, he became partner of Doherty, Sheridan and Grimaldi in Fairfax. He later practiced law with William Virgulak and Dana Scott in Fairfax and Leesburg and was also co-founder and President of Attorneys Arbitration and Mediation, Inc. Before retiring in January of 2013, he was Of Counsel for the law firm of Brault, Palmer, Steinhilber & Robbins, LLP. Mr. Grimaldi is survived by his wife of 56 years, five children, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two brothers.
